Blizzard Warning update
Blizzard Warning Statement as of 3:21 PM EST on February 14, 2015
Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 7 am EST Monday.
* hazard types... heavy snow... blowing snow... and blizzard
conditions.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 12 to 18 inches.
* Timing... light snow increases in intensity tonight. Snow ends
Sunday afternoon but significant blowing snow continues into
Monday. The height of blizzard conditions are expected to occur
late tonight and especially during the day on Sunday and
Sunday evening when the winds will be the strongest.
* Impacts... heavy snow and blowing snow will lead to blizzard
conditions at times late tonight and Sunday. Travel will be
dangerous or impossible with snow covered roads and low
visibility. Wind chill values are expected to be well below zero
Sunday and Sunday night.
* Winds... north 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.
* Temperatures... in the single digits and teens.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded... stay with your vehicle.
