Some New Year’s Resolutions I’ve read on social media to make folks lives a lot less stressful and crazy for 2024. Ya know, some of these folks have a point.   First, I will refuse to discuss or listen to anything having to do with anyone else’s sexual disfunction, identity crisis or sex life. Go deal with it and live your life. Just leave me out of it.   Second, I will do my own research on political candidates this Federal Election season. Yes, that means I’m going to use the mute button on my remote during political ads. The usual “insult artist” contest that pretends to be a political ad just generates too much disgust and stress for me. The companion resolution to this is that I will not listen to any debates. If one of them actually discusses issues I’ll pull it up on line later on and listen to it. Other than that debates tend to be used by candidates as an excuse for obnoxious arrogance and ridiculous insults.   Next, I’m going to ask my elected Federal repr

Ultimate eggnog recipe (This is one of Jamie Oliver’s best. Serves 8 •3 cups (700ml) whole milk •1 cup (240ml) heavy or double cream •3 cinnamon sticks •1 vanilla bean pod, split and seeds removed •1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg, plus more for garnish •5 eggs, separated •2/3 (130g) cup granulated sugar •3/4 cup (175ml) Bacardi Dark Rum, or bourbon In a saucepan, combine milk, cream, cinnamon, vanilla bean, vanilla seeds, and nutmeg. Bring to the boil over a medium heat. Once boiling, remove from the heat and allow to steep. In a large bowl or stand mixer, beat egg yolks and sugar until combined and thick ribbons form when the whisk is lifted. Slowly whisk in the milk and continue to mix until the mixture is combined and smooth. Add bourbon or rum, and stir. Refrigerate overnight or for up to 3 days. Before serving, beat the egg whites in a large bowl or stand mixer until soft peaks form. Gently fold into eggnog until combined. Serve and garnish with f
