Statement as of 3:08 PM EST on January 4, 2015
Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 9 PM Monday to 10 am EST
Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Wind Chill
Advisory... which is in effect from 9 PM Monday to 10 am EST
Tuesday.
* Hazard types... very cold wind chills.
* Wind chill... as low as 25 below due to temperatures 9 below to 6
above zero... and winds west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30
mph.
* Timing... temperatures begin to drop quickly after 7 PM Monday
and don't rise significantly until 10 am Tuesday.
* Impacts... very cold air may result in frostbite or hypothermia.
* Winds... west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
* Temperatures... 9 below to 6 above zero.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
