Statement as of 3:40 PM EST on January 6, 2015
Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 5 PM Wednesday to 10 am EST
Thursday.
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Wind Chill
Advisory... which is in effect from 5 PM Wednesday to 10 am EST
Thursday.
* Hazard types... bitter cold wind chill values.
* Wind chill... 20 to 30 below zero.
* Timing... Wednesday evening through mid morning Thursday.
* Impacts... extremely cold wind chills will cause frost bite very
quickly.
* Winds... northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
* Temperatures... falling below zero to as cold as 15 below.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
