Overcast and snowing

Good morning Augusta.

Winter storm warning remains in effect. This snowfall has a very high “lower back”rating – its going to be heavy, wet and can turn to rain. So you need to watch your lower back while shoveling and weight of snow on the roof.

This morning it is overcast with snow. High of 34F. Winds from the ESE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 100% with accumulations up to 2 in. possible.(Dear NWS: this 2 inch prediction is so far off that it isn’t even funny.)

Tonight it will be overcast with snow. Low of 18F with a windchill as low as 5F. Winds from the NNE at 5 to 15 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Chance of snow 100% with accumulations up to 9 in. possible.

The readings from my own weather instruments are:

The humidity is 92% with a dew point of 18ºF, Temp is 23.4ºF. and a wind chill of 23.4ºF

Our wind direction is North Northwest between 1.1 MPH and  2.7 MPH.

The Barometric pressure is 29.90 HPA 1010 and falling with a weather graphic indicating snow.

The UV rating is 0 out of 16, Sunrise is at 6:59 a.m. sunset is 5:45 PM and Moon Rise is 1:16 p.m. EDT and the moon phase is waxing gibbous.

For the pilots out there Raw Metar is:

Visibility is 1.8 miles/2.8 Kilometers with Overcast conditions down to 400 ft / 121 m.

We have had 2 inches of snow so far, and its still coming down. Its going to be a heavy and wet snow so watch your lower back.
