Statement as of 3:44 am EST on February 20, 2014

Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9 PM this evening to

11 am EST Friday...

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Weather

Advisory for mixed precipitation... which is in effect from 9 PM

this evening to 11 am EST Friday.

* Hazard types... snow... sleet... and freezing rain.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of up to 2 inches... along with

up to a tenth of an inch of ice.

* Timing... light snow should begin this evening... perhaps starting

as a brief period of light rain. During the night... the snow

should transition to a mixture of sleet and freezing rain... then

eventually to plain rain by late morning Friday.

* Impacts... slippery travel.

* Winds... east 5 to 10 mph.

* Temperatures... in the lower 30s.

 

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or

freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for

slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while

driving.
