Winter Storm Watch
Statement as of 12:35 PM EST on February 12, 2014
Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Thursday morning
through Friday morning...
* hazard types... heavy snow... and possibly some mixed precipitation.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches... along
with around a trace of ice.
* Timing... snow should begin from south to north during the late
morning hours Thursday... possibly during the afternoon in the
White Mountains and western Maine mountains. At this time it
looks like the heaviest snow would be Thursday night... then
end sometime early Friday morning.
* Impacts... significant travel delays possible with snow covered
roads. Some blowing and drifting possible.
* Winds... northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
* Temperatures... in the mid 20s.
Precautionary/preparedness actions.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
