Statement as of 2:35 am EST on February 13, 2014
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from noon today to noon
EST Friday...
* hazard types... heavy snow... sleet... and freezing rain.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches... along with
up to a quarter inch of ice.
* Timing... snow should begin from south to north during the late
morning hours. At this time it looks like the heaviest snow
would be late this afternoon and early this evening. A change
over to sleet and freezing rain is likely tonight before
precipitation ends as snow Friday morning.
* Impacts... significant travel delays possible with snow covered
roads. Some blowing and drifting snow is possible.
* Winds... northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.
* Temperatures... climbing into in the upper 20s.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
