Winter Storm Warning in effect from 1 PM Thursday to 8 am EST Friday.

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow which is in effect from 1 PM Thursday to

8 am EST Friday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Hazard types... heavy snow... potentially with a period of heavy

rain or mixed precipitation for a time Thursday afternoon and evening. The snow that falls may be heavy and wet.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches.

* Timing... the snow or mixed precipitation will begin to fall between late morning and mid afternoon Thursday. The precipitation is expected to be heavy at times Thursday night.

An isolated thunderstorm is also possible. The precipitation will end from south to north late Thursday night into Friday morning.

* Impacts... the potential for heavy snow exists along with a

period of rain or mixed precipitation. This will make travel

difficult at best late Thursday and Thursday night. In

possibility... especially when combined with gusty winds.

* Winds... northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Temperatures... in the upper 20s.

* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather

conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow

are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an

emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...

food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
