Synopsis.

low pressure will track down the Saint Lawrence valley and drive a trailing cold front through the region later today. Ahead of this front, we'll see a messy wintry mix eventually change to rain as warmer air briefly moves into the area. High pressure and colder air will build in from the west for tonight and Monday.

High pressure will settle offshore south of New England Monday night and Tuesday, then remain across the region through

Wednesday. Low pressure will approach from the west on Thursday and drive a cold front through the region Thursday night as it

passes northwest of the region. High pressure follows this system for Friday and Christmas eve.

Near term /until 6 PM this evening/. 950 am.

warmer surface continuing to work in along the coast and into southern NH, as well up the CT valley and north of the whites and mahoosucs. However the cold air damming is hanging tough in

interior sections of Maine, and just south of the Presidential Range in Carroll County New Hampshire. So, these areas will hold onto their advisory through 18z, while it has been dropped for all other

locations. Warm rain and heavier bursts are preventing a lot of it from accumulating on objects above ground, which helps mitigate some problems. Temps will gradual climb through the morning to early afternoon as well.

720 am...surface temperatures continue to slowly warm and i've adjusted the timing of the current advisory to extend it for another two hours over extreme southern New Hampshire as well as along the coast.
