Winter storm warning update

Winter Storm Warning statement as of 3:05 PM EST on December 29, 2016

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 8 am EST Friday.

* hazard types... heavy snow mixing with or changing to rain.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches.

* Timing... snow will become heavy at times late in the day into this evening. Snow will mix with or change to rain this evening into the early morning hours on Friday before changing back to snow before ending.

* Impacts... roads will become snow covered and slippery. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour may make it more difficult to keep roads well plowed. Snow mixing with or changing to rain may cause roads to be extra slippery.

* Temperatures... in the lower 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an

emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
