FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EDT THIS MORNING.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Maine, including
the following counties, in south central Maine, Kennebec and
Sagadahoc. In southwest Maine, Androscoggin and Cumberland.
* WHEN...Until 1100 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 7:36 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain overnight
and through early this morning. Runoff could lead to small streams coming out of banks, especially if compounded by leaf blockage. Flood prone low-lying areas will be most
susceptible to flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen, with additional rainfall through late morning.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lewiston, Auburn, Brunswick, Augusta, Bath, Gardiner,
Topsham, Cumberland, Falmouth, and Freeport.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
