High Wind Watch Statement as of 3:46 am EDT on November 2, 2018
High wind watch in effect from Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening.
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a high wind watch, which is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening.
* Winds... west 15 to 30 mph with gusts between 50 and 60 mph possible.
* Timing... strong winds are likely to develop across southern New Hampshire early to mid afternoon Saturday. The stronger gusts will then quickly advance northeastward to much of the Maine
coastal plain including portions of central Maine by late afternoon. Winds are expected to diminish Saturday evening.
* Impacts... downed trees and power lines possible. This would likely result in power outages if the stronger wind gusts do indeed develop.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph... or gusts of
58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor the latest
forecasts.
