High Wind Warning Statement as of 3:55 am EDT on November 3, 2018
High Wind Warning in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 10 PM EDT this evening.
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a High Wind Warning, which is in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 10 PM EDT
this evening. The high wind watch is no longer in effect.
* Winds... southwest winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are likely late this afternoon and early evening. However, a brief period (1 to 2 hours) of damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph
will be quite possible.
* Timing... strong winds are likely to develop across central and midcoast Maine late afternoon today. Winds are expected to diminish this evening. The strongest wind gusts are expected
late this afternoon and early evening.
* Impacts... downed trees and power lines are likely. This will
result in power outages. High profile vehicles may have difficulty driving, especially on bridges and overpasses. Loose objects will likely be tossed around.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
