Winter Storm Warning and Small Craft Advisory

Winter Storm Warning statement as of 3:50 PM EST on February 14, 2017

Winter Storm Warning in effect from 7 am Wednesday to 10 am EST Thursday.

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow... which is in effect from 7 am Wednesday to 10 am EST Thursday.

The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Hazard types... heavy snow.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches.

* Timing... snow will begin Wednesday morning but may mix with rain for a time near the Maine Turnpike during the day. Any mix will change back to snow and become heavy at times in the evening and continue into Thursday morning.

* Impacts... travel will become difficult due to snow covered roads Wednesday into Thursday. Isolated power outages are possible due to falling limbs from the weight of snow.

* Winds... northeast 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.

* Temperatures... in the mid 20s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather

conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow

are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

 

Small Craft Advisory statement as of 3:34 PM EST on February 14, 2017

Small Craft Advisory in effect from 7 am to 7 PM EST Wednesday.

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Small Craft

Advisory... which is in effect from 7 am to 7 PM EST Wednesday.

The Small Craft Advisory has been cancelled.

* Winds... south 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt.

* Seas... 7 to 10 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 25 to 33 knots

are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.

Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller

vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
