Blizzard watch cancelled, Storm warning remains in effect

Winter Storm Warning statement as of 3:51 PM EST on February 12, 2017

Winter Storm Warning now in effect until 7 PM EST Monday, the Blizzard watch is cancelled.

The National Weather Service in gray has cancelled the blizzard watch.

* Hazard types... heavy snow, strong winds, and blowing snow.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 16 to 24 inches.

* Timing... snow will become heavy at times overnight and Monday. Winds will increase and become strong late tonight and Monday and allow for blowing and drifting along with very low

visibilities. The snow will likely come to an end early Monday afternoon.

* Impacts... treacherous travel, low visibilities, and the potential for power outages. Near-blizzard conditions will be possible late tonight and Monday. The snow may be briefly heavy and wet for a time tonight along the coast which could lead to power outages.

* Winds... northeast 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph... mainly during the day on Monday.

* Temperatures... in the mid 20s.

* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather

conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of

snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in

an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...

food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
