Winter Weather Advisory, Winter Storm Watch statement as of 8:20 am EST on February 11, 2017
Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 8 PM EST this evening.
Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Sunday morning through Monday evening.
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow which is in effect until 8 PM EST this evening.
* Hazard types... light snow today. Heavy snow and gusty winds
Sunday and Monday. The snow will likely mix with rain for a
time Sunday and Sunday night on the immediate coast.
* Accumulations... 3 to 6 inches today. Snow accumulation of 14 to
18 inches Sunday and Monday.
* Timing... light snow throughout today and ends early this evening.
Snow begins again late Sunday morning or early afternoon and
becomes heavy at times Sunday afternoon and night. The snow will
taper off Monday afternoon.
* Impacts... slippery roads today. On Sunday, snow will develop
and become heavy at times during the afternoon and especially
Sunday night. The snow will be blown about by strong winds at
times, mainly near the coast. Some power outages possible due to
heavy wet snow where temperatures remain near 32 degrees and
where rain mixes in near the coast. Near-blizzard conditions
possible later Sunday night and Monday where snow remains light
and fluffy.
* Winds... north 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph Sunday night
and Monday.
* Temperatures... 20s.
* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Storm watch remains in effect from late Sunday night through Monday evening...
* winds... north 30 to 40 kt with gusts up to 55 kt.
* Seas... 13 to 18 feet.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A storm watch is issued when the risk of storm force winds of
48 to 63 knots has significantly increased... but the specific
timing and/or location is still uncertain. It is intended to
provide additional lead time for mariners who may wish to
consider altering their plans.
