A LONG DURATION WINTER STORM WILL BRING TWO ROUNDS OF SNOW TO PORTIONS OF THE REGION THROUGH TUESDAY.

Snow will be light and intermittent across much of the area during the day today, with only snow showers expected in the far north. A second low will develop just off the New England coast tonight and will intensify as it tracks east across the Gulf of ME through Tuesday. This will bring a round of accumulating snow back into the area tonight. The heaviest snow will likely occur late tonight into Tuesday across central ME from Portland NE through the Capital Region and along the mid-coast.

 

WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 5 PM

EST TUESDAY...

 

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 9

inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

 

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Maine.

 

* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 5 PM EST Tuesday.

 

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult, especially tonight

into Tuesday morning.
