The National Weather Service in Gray Maine has issued a

northwestern Kennebec County in south central Maine...

northern Androscoggin County in southwestern Maine...

* until 845 PM EDT.

* At 540 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to

thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Turner, Oakland, Belgrade, Livermore Falls, Winthrop, Greene,

Leeds, Livermore, Hebron, Chesterville, Fayette, Wayne, Rome, Mount

Vernon, Readfield, Vienna, Minot, Smithfield, New Sharon and

Monmouth.

... A line of strong thunderstorms will affect Kennebec... northwestern

Waldo... northeastern Androscoggin and southeastern Somerset

counties...

At 550 PM EDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located

along a line extending from 8 miles north of Skowhegan to near

Waterville to near Lewiston. Movement was east at 25 mph.

Winds in excess of 30 mph and pea size hail are possible with these

storms.

Locations impacted include...

Lewiston, Augusta, Waterville, Fairfield, Gardiner, Oakland,

Skowhegan, Pittsfield, Madison, China, Litchfield, Clinton, Belgrade,

Livermore Falls, Farmingdale, Manchester, Hallowell, Palermo,

Winthrop and Unity.

This includes the following highways...

Interstate 295 between mile markers 49 and 51.

Interstate 95 between mile markers 88 and 156.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may

cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.

Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe

shelter inside a building or vehicle.
