Sunny and windy

Good Morning Augusta.

Tonight it will remain partly cloudy with a Low of 21F. and Winds from the NNW at 5-10 mph.

The readings outside right now, taken from my own weather instruments:

The temperature is 35.3ºF with a wind chill of 20.5ºF.

Presently we have West winds between  8.7 mph and 12.9 mph.

Our Barometric pressure is 29.81 and rising with a weather graphic indicating sun.

We had precipitation overnight in the form of rain of 1.67 incheswith 0.35 inches during the early morning hours.

Visibility is 10.0 miles with some clouds to 4,200 feet.

In the past I've noted on this blog that I use a LaCrosse WS 2800 wireless weather station to gather my weather data. This does everything except give a weathercam web feed.

So, if you have a "geek streak" why not build one? If you want to know how to build your own weather cam feed using your webcam, go to:

http://lifehacker.com/393274/do-more-with-your-webcam-with-free-tools

and read how to do it. They also give instructions on how to build a motion censor video feed setup and numerous other things that I never thought of using my webcam for. This is truly an interesting web site to visit.

By the way, if you are a true geek, and I mean an advanced, dyed-in-the-wool techno-geek, I have a real project for you to consider.

Go to:

http://dangerousprototypes.com/2011/11/14/defcon-19-build-your-own-radar-system/

and see about building your own radar system. Well, if you have your own weather station, and put up your own webcam, why stop there? Put the radar unit up as well and finish the job. I've also found some web sites on how to use a cell phone and wireless camera in conjunction with a weather balloon to get some photographs from the stratosphere and recover your equipment. But if your wife "has limits" about your hobbies like mine does, you might be pushing your luck just a bit far for her.
