Did you remember to set your clocks ahead?

Good Morning Augusta.

This morning it is partly cloudy then clearing. High of 50F. Winds from the SW at 5-15 mph.

Tonight it will be clear. Low of 34F. Winds from the SW at 5-10 mph shifting to the NNW after midnight.

The readings outside right now, taken from my own weather instruments:

a relative humidity of 70% with a Dew Point of 24.4ºF.

The temperature is 33.1ºF with no wind chill.

Presently we have South winds ranging between  3.4 mph and 8.4 mph.

Our Barometric pressure is 30.27 and falling with a weather graphic indicating clouds.

We had no precipitation in this area overnight.

Visibility is 10.0 miles and mostly cloudy to 8,500 feet.

Just in case you don't want to build your very own weather balloon camera as suggested in yesterday's weather posting, but still want to be able to see things from "really up there" – go to the "Interactive Weather Satellite Imagery Viewers from NASA GHCC" at:

http://www.ghcc.msfc.nasa.gov/GOES/

There are a lot of options there for viewing from orbit, but it isn't near as much fun as building something yourself for launch out of  your back yard or driveway.

Hobbies like these keep your neighbors from getting bored, don't they?

But hey, if you're interested in getting to real high altitude without all of that tedious waiting around for a balloon to float slowly up to the "edge of space" why not get started on your own liquid fueld rochet engine to get up there a bit fater? Go to:

http://home.total.net/~launch/

If you'd prefer a good, old-fashioned reliable solid fuel rocket engine, go to:

http://www.space-rockets.com/ae101.html

They have classes you can sign up for to do it right, but the class for May of 2012 is already full, so move fast for the next class!

By the way, you might want to check town ordinances where you live to see if they have an ordinance that prohibits driveway or backyard rocket launching. We'll get into trajectories, instrument packages, preferred orbits/velocities and how to handle neighbor complaints later.

And, for great deals on fire extinguishers (just in case):
