WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 10 PM EST TUESDAY

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches with 5 to 7 inches possible for the foothills and western Maine mountains.

* WHERE...Portions of south central, southwest, west central, and western Maine and northern New Hampshire.

* WHEN...From 9 AM to 10 PM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...An area of low pressure will bring a period of snowfall

to the region and make for slick travel, especially during the

evening commute. Periods of moderate to heavy snow may occur with

snowfall rates possibly exceeding one inch per hour in the

afternoon and evening.
