#MEwx special statement for strong thunderstorms

A line of strong thunderstorms will affect northwestern Kennebec... southeastern Somerset and southeastern Franklin

counties...

At 1125 am EDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located

along a line extending from near Kingsbury Plantation to near

Livermore Falls. Movement was east at 25 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph are possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...

Waterville, Farmington, Fairfield, Dexter, Oakland, Skowhegan,

Pittsfield, Madison, Clinton, Belgrade, Bingham, Norridgewock,

Wilton, Kingsbury Plantation, Benton, Anson, Canaan, Hartland,

Chesterville and Cornville.

Those attending the Skowhegan state fair are in the path of these

storms and should prepare for the expected weather conditions.

This includes Interstate 95 between mile markers 124 and 138.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may

cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

roadways.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

stations and available television stations for additional information

and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
