If you've ever tasted graham bread, you'll love this recipe.
GRAHAM NUT BREAD
32 graham crackers (about 2 ¾ cups crumbs)
½ tsp salt
½ cup sugar
½ cup milk
½ cup melted shortening, slightly cooled
1 ½ tsp baking powder
3 eggs
1 cup chopped nuts
Crumble crackers fine; add salt, sugar and baking powder. Beat eggs, add milk and melted shortening. Combine with dry ingredients and add nuts.
Bake at 375⁰ (in loaf pan) for 35-40 minutes.
If I use cinnamon graham crackers, I decrease the amount of sugar slightly. Greasing the pan isn't necessary, but I usually give it a quick Pam spray anyway. I check the bread after 30 minutes and every 5-10 minutes after that until the toothpick-in-center comes out clean.
