Winter Weather Advisory statement as of 3:43 PM EST on February 23, 2016

Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight tonight to

5 am EST Thursday.

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Weather

Advisory for mixed precipitation which is in effect from midnight tonight to 5 am EST Thursday.

* Hazard types... snow... sleet... and freezing rain.

* Accumulations... 1 to 3 inches of snow followed by around a tenth

of an inch of ice. A quarter to just below a half inch of ice

will be possible at elevations mainly between 500 and 2000 ft.

* Timing... snow will overnight. It will change to sleet and

freezing rain Wednesday. A change to plain rain is expected at

lower elevations such as the coastal plain as well as lower

river valleys. However... freezing rain will continue at the

aforementioned higher elevations into Wednesday night before

changing to plain rain then.

* Impacts... slippery travel. Some power outages possible due to

icing... mainly between 500 and 2000 ft.

* Winds... northeast winds generally less than 10 mph.

* Temperatures... the mid 20s to lower 30s. Rising into the 30s

Wednesday and Wednesday night... and then into the 50s Thursday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or

freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for

slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while

driving.
