Winter Weather Advisory statement as of 5:27 am EST on February 24, 2016
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 am EST
Thursday.
* hazard types... snow... sleet... and freezing rain.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches... along
with around a tenth of an inch of ice.
* Timing... snow will change to sleet and freezing rain today. A
change to plain rain is expected at lower elevations such as
lower river valleys. However... freezing rain will continue
across the higher elevations into tonight before changing to
plain rain.
* Impacts... slippery travel. Some power outages expected due to
icing... mainly between 500 and 2000 ft.
* Winds... east 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* Temperatures... around 30.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
