#MEwx Downright warm temps and another Weather Proverb for you to ponder

Good morning Augusta.

I’ve put up an Ambient WS 5000 weather station where you can view real time weather readings from my location online by clicking here.

This morning we have mostly sunny skies, becoming mostly cloudy. Patchy fog this morning with highs in the upper 40s. West winds around 10 mph gusting to 30 mph.

Tonight we’ll have clouds with a 50 percent chance of rain. Lows in the lower 30s with light and variable winds, becoming northeast around 10 mph gusting to 20 mph after midnight.

We didn’t receive any rain here over the past 24  hours, just more melting.

The  wind is West Northwest between  1.6 MPH and 4.9 MPH.

The Relative pressure is 29.61, the Absolute pressure is 29.41 and rising with a weather graphic indicating Sun and a few clouds.

Augusta’s humidity is 84%, the  outdoor temperature is 41.7°F, the dew point is 37.2°F and the wind chill is 41.7°F.

Visibility is  10.0 Miles / 16.1 Kilometers with mostly sunny skies.

The UV index is 0 placing the average person at low risk and the solar radiation reading is 26.7W/m2. The moon is Waning Crescent and is 22% illuminated. Sunrise is 6:39 AM, sunset is 5:09 PM, moonrise is 4:20 AM and Moonset is 12:36 PM. We’ll have 10 hours 32 minutes of daylight today. The next Full Moon is on March 9 with our next new moon being on February 20.

This one makes good, logical sense to me.

“Doors and drawers stick before a rain.”

Doors that stick in the frame upon opening or that are troublesome to close are indicators of high humidity, portending rain. There is a lengthy biological — specifically dendrological (the study of trees) — explanation for this, but for our purposes, just know that wood expands when the air humidifies. Humidity is a sign of low pressure and incoming poor weather, so when doors stick, look for showers.
