Winter storm warning update
Winter Storm Warning statement as of 3:42 am EST on January 12, 2016
Winter Storm Warning in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to
10 am EST Wednesday.
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for heavy snow... which is in effect from 5 PM this
afternoon to 10 am EST Wednesday. The Winter Storm Watch is no
longer in effect.
* Hazard types... heavy snow.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches with locally
higher amounts possible.
* Timing... snow will begin to fall across the area this afternoon
and will become heavy at times this evening and overnight. The
snow will then taper off and end late tonight or early Wednesday
morning.
* Impacts... reduced visibilities and dangerous driving
conditions possible.
* Winds... southeast 5 to 15 mph becoming west tonight.
* Temperatures... in the mid 20s.
* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
