Below is the sixth installment of political phrases and word definitions for this federal election year. Enjoy.

This morning we look at definitions focused upon special interests.

As we have all seen, there are always moral guardians that rise up every election year.  So the following definitions are important.

“PURITAN” – AN INDIVIDUAL WHO SUSPECTS THAT SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE IS HAVING FUN

“SIN” - Anything the other fellow enjoys and you don't.

“VICE” - Anything you enjoy that others say is bad for you.

“CONSCIENCE” - That which hurts when everything else feels so good.

(Many years ago while residing in New Hampshire an elderly gentleman told me that he’d suggested that all opponents of abortion agree to adopt and raise the infants being carried by those wishing to have an abortion.  The anti-abortion folks quieted right down.  Amazing how requiring that one assume responsibility for the values they want imposed on  others shuts people up, isn’t it?)

And for the taxation “experts” out there:

“Slight tax increase” costs taxpayers two hundred dollars.

“Substantial tax cut” saves taxpayers thirty cents (IF you qualify for it).

And one of my favorite repeats:

“Business Reform” the administration’s big business supporters are permited to send their manufacturing jobs offshore and get a tax break for doing it.
