Upgrade from advisory to winter storm warning
Winter Storm Warning statement as of 1:18 PM EST on January 16, 2016
Winter Storm Warning in effect until 6 PM EST this evening.
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for snow and sleet which is in effect until 6 PM EST
this evening. The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.
* Hazard types... a mixture of snow and sleet.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches.
* Timing... snow will continue through this afternoon mixing with
or changing to sleet at times.
* Impacts... reduced visibilities and dangerous driving
conditions.
* Winds... north 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
* Visibilities... as low as a quarter mile at times.
* Temperatures... in the mid 20s.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
