Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6 PM this evening to 7 am
EST Saturday.
Winter Storm Watch in effect from Saturday morning through
Monday morning...
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory for snow... sleet... and freezing rain... which is in effect
from 6 PM this evening to 7 am EST Saturday. A Winter Storm Watch
has also been issued. This Winter Storm Watch is in effect from
Saturday morning through Monday morning.
* Locations... the foothills and interior coastal plain of western
Maine.
* Hazard types... snow... sleet... and freezing rain is expected
tonight. Another heavier round of freezing rain and sleet is
expected from Saturday through Sunday night.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of up to 1 inch is possible
tonight... along with light icing up to one tenth of an inch.
Heavier freezing rain Saturday night through Sunday night could
produce one half inch of ice accumulation.
* Timing... snow and freezing rain begins late this afternoon and
into tonight. Another round of heavier precipitation is expected
later Saturday through Sunday night.
* Impacts... light freezing rain tonight could make exposed
surfaces slick. Roads and sidewalks could make driving and
walking difficult. Heavier freezing rain Saturday through Sunday
night may cause significant ice accumulations on trees and power
lines. Some tree limbs could break and cause power outages.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
