Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 3:43 am EST on December 14, 2013
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 9 PM this evening
to 3 PM EST Sunday...
* locations... the foothills of Maine.
* Hazard types... heavy snow.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches.
* Timing... snow will spread northeast across the region this
evening... and continue through Sunday morning.
* Impacts... accumulating snow and gusty winds will produce slick
roads and sharply reduced visibilities in blowing and drifting
snow.
* Winds... northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
* Temperatures... 3 to 18 above.
* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food...
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
