Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 4:06 am EST on December 16, 2012
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory for snow and ice... which is in effect from 7 PM this
evening to 7 PM EST Monday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in
effect.
* Locations... western Maine except the coast and mountains.
* Hazard types... snow... sleet... and freezing rain.
* Accumulations... 4 to 6 inches of snow... and up to a tenth of an
inch of ice outside of Somerset County.
* Timing... snow will begin this evening and continue into early
Monday morning. Sleet and freezing rain will mix in from
interior Cumberland to Kennebec County early Monday morning.
* Impacts... accumulation of snow and ice will create hazardous
travel conditions beginning this evening... roads will become
slippery.
* Winds... northeast 5 to 10 mph.
* Temperatures... in the lower 20s.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
