Storm advisory cancelled, Storm warning is now up
Statement as of 3:04 PM EST on December 29, 2012
Winter Storm Warning in effect until 7 am EST Sunday.
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for heavy snow... which is in effect until 7 am EST
Sunday. The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.
* Locations... Androscoggin and Kennebec counties in Maine.
* Hazard types... heavy snow.
* Accumulations... 4 to 8 inches of snow.
* Timing... snow will continue to fall through this evening into
the overnight hours... and be heavy at times. The snow will taper
off well after midnight.
* Impacts... hazardous driving conditions due to slippery... snow-
covered roadways and reduced visibilities.
* Winds... north 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
* Temperatures... in the lower 20s.
* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra
flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency.
