1. *Winter Weather Advisory

Statement as of 3:12 PM EST on January 17, 2012

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 5 am EST Wednesday

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Weather

Advisory for mixed precipitation which is in effect until 5 am

EST Wednesday.

* Locations... Androscoggin... Kennebec... interior Waldo counties in

Maine. This also includes southern Grafton and southern Carroll

counties in New Hampshire.

* Hazard types... snow... sleet... and freezing rain.

* Accumulations... up to 1 inch of snow. Around a tenth of an inch

of ice.

* Timing... late this afternoon and evening.

* Impacts... slippery travel this evening.

* Temperatures... around 30 degrees.

*Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or

freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for

slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while

driving.

 

2. *Wind Advisory Statement as of 3:15 PM EST on January 17, 2012

There is a Wind Advisory in effect from 4 am to noon EST Wednesday

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Wind Advisory which is in effect from 4 am to noon EST Wednesday.

* Winds... west 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Timing... strongest winds will be during the morning hours on

Wednesday.

* Impacts... downed limbs... scattered power outages... and difficult

driving conditions for high profile vehicles.

*Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means strong winds of 31 to 39 mph or gusts of

46 to 57 mph can lead to damage due to downed tree limbs and

scattered power outages.
