Storm watch is over, Storm Warning in effect

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm warning for heavy snow which is in effect from 4 am to 10 PM EST Thursday.

The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Locations all of interior western Maine including the mountains.

* Hazard types snow may mix with some sleet in the afternoon.

* Accumulations 5 to 9 inches of snow.

* Timing 4 am Thursday to 10 PM Thursday.

* Impacts cold temperatures preceding the snowfall will cause

surfaces to become snow covered and slippery shortly after the

onset of precipitation.

* Winds northeast 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

* Temperatures in the single numbers and teens rising into the

20s in the afternoon and into the evening.

* Visibilities variable to below 1/4 mile at times.

* Precautionary/preparedness actions

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather

conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow

are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an

emergency. If you must travel keep an extra

flashlight food and water in your vehicle in case of an

emergency.

Once again, if you don't have a blizzard kit in your car, get one. If you travel a lot, you NEED one now.
