Freezing rain advisory

Good Morning Augusta.

This morning we are under a freezing rain advisory and that is very likely this morning, then occasional rain or a chance of snow showers this afternoon. Additional snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Ice accumulation of up to a tenth of an inch. Highs in the mid 30s. Light and variable winds, becoming south 10 to 15 mph this afternoon. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.

Tonight it will be mostly cloudy. A chance of snow showers in the evening. Lows around 16. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 50 percent.

The readings outside right now, taken from my own instrumentation  are:

a relative humidity of 94% with a Dew Point of 21.7ºF.

The temperature is 23.2ºF with almost no wind chill yet.

The wind velocity right now is between 2.7 mph and 4.0 mph out of theNortheast.

Our Barometric pressure is 29.41 and falling. The weather graphic indicates rain.

The measurable precipitation over the past 24 hours came in the form of sleet, freezing rain and snow. Augusta's snowfall was measured at 4 inches while Scarborough received 10 inches. It depended on where you were and what bands of laden clouds passed over you during the storm.

Right now visibility is 0.8 miles and the overcast is down to 200 feet.

My weather station readings are taken from a LeCrosse Wireless weather station Model 2800 that I own. They are regularly cross referenced and cross checked with the NWS readings in this area as well as those readings taken from the Augusta Airport. This is done for accuracy, and are always virtually identical.
