#MEwx Winter Weather Advisory in effect

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

National Weather Service Gray ME

3:30 PM EST Thu Dec 31 2020

SNOW AND A WINTRY MIX EXPECTED FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY.

A quick moving system will cross the area Friday night into Saturday. A burst of snowfall is expected on the leading edge of precipitation Friday night followed by a transition to sleet and

freezing rain from southwest to northeast. Some of that snow may briefly be moderate to heavy before the transition. Light accumulations of mixed precipitation are expected as precipitation will quickly wane in intensity as drier air moves in aloft. This is still expected to make roads slippery and this advisory offers

plenty of lead time so this system does not get lost in the shuffle of a holiday weekend.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 1 PM EST

SATURDAY.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5

inches expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central, southwest, west central and

western Maine.

* WHEN...From 1 AM to 1 PM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on snow covered and slippery road conditions.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While most of the precipitation will likely

fall as snow, it may end as a period of freezing drizzle on

Saturday.
