SNOW EXPECTED TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

Low pressure moving through the eastern Great Lakes will spread snow across the area midday through the afternoon on Tuesday. Snow will quickly pick up in intensity once it starts from southwest to

northeast. Snowfall rates may approach 1 inch per hour over parts of western Maine in the mid to late afternoon. Snow will transition to a wintry mix or rain across southern parts of New

Hampshire and coastal western Maine, and sleet may mix in as far north as the foothills. Precipitation will quickly come to an end from west to east during the evening.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TO 10 PM EST

TUESDAY.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches

expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northern New Hampshire and south central,

southwest, west central and western Maine.

* WHEN...From 1 PM to 10 PM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on snow covered and slippery road conditions.

The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Southern parts of the advisory area may see

sleet, freezing rain, or rain mix in later in the event. Across

the mountains strong southeast wind gusts may occur on the

northern slopes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or

freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for

slippery roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while

driving.
