west central Waldo County in south central Maine...

southern Somerset County in west central Maine...

* until 5:00 PM EDT

* at 4:17 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Oakland,

moving east at 25 mph.

Hazard... 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

Source... radar indicated.

Impact... minor hail damage to vehicles is possible. Expect wind

           damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...

Augusta, Waterville, Fairfield, Oakland, China, Belgrade, Palermo,

Unity, Benton, Albion, Freedom, Sidney, Rome, Winslow, Vassalboro,

Windsor, Smithfield and Mount Vernon.

This includes Interstate 95 between mile markers 118 and 131.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a

building.

If on or near lakes or ponds, get away from the water and move

indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to

15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you

are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter

now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
