Cloudy and wet with another deadly chocolate cookie recipe

Good Morning Augusta

This morning we have a possible stray shower or thunderstorm early. Morning Clouds will become partly cloudy later in the day. High 81ºF. Winds WSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight we'll have mostly clear skies with a  Low of 56 ºF. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph. Excellent sleeping weather.

After yesterday's chocolate poundcake recipe, I thought I'd drop back to "pocket" goodies, like more cookies.

CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE COOKIES

4 oz. unsweetened chocolate

6 Tblsp. butter

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup flour

2 Tblsp. unsweetened cocoa powder

¼ tsp. baking powder

¼ tsp. salt

1 cup sugar

3 eggs

1 ½ tsp. vanilla

Directions

1.         Heat oven to 250.

2.         Chop unsweetened chocolate.

3.         Cut butter into pieces.

4.         Melt together chopped chocolate, butter, and 1 cup chocolate chips in small pan in oven, stiffing occasionally.  Cool.

5.         Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.

6.         Beat sugar and eggs about 2 minutes.  Beat in vanilla.

7.         Stir in chocolate mixture, then flour mixture, and finally the remaining 1 cup chocolate chips.

8.         Cover and chill until firm, at least 1 hour.

9.         Heat oven to 350.

10.       Shape mixture into 1" balls.

11.       Bake on ungreased cookie sheets, 2" apart, until puffed, about 10 minutes.
