Storm warning update
Poster’s note: Our local weather forecasters give a range of snow for today – some say 3-6 inches, some say 6-12 inches and the copy/paste from the NWS below says 4-8.
Take your pick, but make sure the snow blower is gassed up and the shovel is set just outside the back door.
Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 2:51 am EST on November 2, 2014
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM EST this
afternoon.
* hazard types... wet snow and strong winds.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches.
* Timing... snow and rain early on this morning will give way to
snow heavy at times late morning and much of the afternoon. It
is expected to taper off and end by early this evening.
* Impacts... drivers may need to go slow and use caution. In
addition... wet snow will stick to trees and power lines.
Downed limbs may lead to scattered power outages.
* Winds... north 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* Temperatures... in the lower 30s.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
