Storm watch elevated to warning status

Winter Storm Warning in effect from 6 PM Friday to 4 PM EST
Saturday.
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow which is in effect from 6 PM Friday to 4 PM EST Saturday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.
* Locations... northern New Hampshire eastward through western
Maine to the interior midcoast.
* Hazard types... heavy snow... with blowing and drifting.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 12 to 18 inches.
* Timing... a light snow will begin falling early Friday
morning... but conditions will rapidly deteriorate Friday evening
and continue through Saturday morning. Snow will be heavy at
times Friday night into Saturday morning.
* Impacts... snow covered roads and low visibilities. Blowing and
drifting snow is also likely.
* Winds... north 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.
* Temperatures... 3 to 18 above.
Precautionary/preparedness actions
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency.
