Storm Warning in efect

...and yep, its snowin' out there.

Winter Storm Warning Expires 7:00 PM EST on February 24, 2013

Statement as of 3:36 am EST on February 24, 2013

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening.

* locations... much of southern and central Maine from the coast to

the foothills.

* Hazard types... snow.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches.

* Timing... snow will increase in intensity this morning... and

could be heavy at times... especially later this morning into the

afternoon. The snow will taper off to snow showers around sunset

and end during the evening.

* Impacts... roads will become snow covered and slippery. This will

be a wet snow early in the event... and could bring down

scattered tree limbs or power lines where accumulations are

high.

* Winds... northeast 5 to 10 mph.

* Temperatures... 30 to 35.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather

conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of

snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel keep an extra flashlight

food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
