#MEwx WArm, humid, foggy and rainy with Chocolate Truffle Cookies

This morning we have cloudy skies with areas of fog. A chance of showers with areas of drizzle this morning, showers likely with a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs in the upper 60s with south winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight we'll have mostly cloudy conditions with a chance of showers during evening hours, then partly cloudy after midnight. Lows in the mid 50s. South winds around 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph in the evening, becoming light and variable.

CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE COOKIES

4 oz. unsweetened chocolate

6 Tblsp. butter

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup flour

2 Tblsp. unsweetened cocoa powder

¼ tsp. baking powder

¼ tsp. salt

1 cup sugar

3 eggs

1 ½ tsp. vanilla

Directions

1.         Heat oven to 250⁰.

2.         Chop unsweetened chocolate.

3.         Cut butter into pieces.

4.         Melt together chopped chocolate, butter, and 1 cup chocolate chips in small pan in oven, stiffing occasionally.  Cool.

5.         Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.

6.         Beat sugar and eggs about 2 minutes.  Beat in vanilla.

7.         Stir in chocolate mixture, then flour mixture, and finally the remaining 1 cup chocolate chips.

8.         Cover and chill until firm, at least 1 hour.

9.         Heat oven to 350⁰.

10.       Shape mixture into 1" balls.

11.       Bake on ungreased cookie sheets, 2" apart, until puffed, about 10 minutes.
