This morning we have mostly cloudy skies, then partly sunny with a slight chance for showers this afternoon. Highs in the upper 50s with north winds around 10 mph.

Tonight it will be partly cloudy with lows in the upper 30s. Winds will be light and variable.

CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE COOKIES

4 oz. unsweetened chocolate

6 Tblsp. butter

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup flour

2 Tblsp. unsweetened cocoa powder

¼ tsp. baking powder

¼ tsp. salt

1 cup sugar

3 eggs

1 ½ tsp. vanilla

Directions

1.         Heat oven to 250⁰.

2.         Chop unsweetened chocolate.

3.         Cut butter into pieces.

4.         Melt together chopped chocolate, butter, and 1 cup chocolate chips in small pan in oven, stiffing occasionally.  Cool.

5.         Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.

6.         Beat sugar and eggs about 2 minutes.  Beat in vanilla.

7.         Stir in chocolate mixture, then flour mixture, and finally the remaining 1 cup chocolate chips.

8.         Cover and chill until firm, at least 1 hour.

9.         Heat oven to 350⁰.

10.       Shape mixture into 1" balls.

11.       Bake on ungreased cookie sheets, 2" apart, until puffed, about 10 minutes.
