Special Statement for Augusta, Maine

Special statement as of 3:40 am EST on February 2, 2018

Snow will make for a slick commute this morning.

There will be a period of snow this morning across western Maine and New Hampshire as Arctic air sweeps into the region. This will make for a slick and greasy morning commute. The snow will

accumulate an inch or two most areas with the highest amounts, around three inches, along the midcoast and Penobscot River Valley.

Motorists should allow extra time for their morning commute and be

prepared for hazardous travel. The snow will end from west to east this morning, exiting the midcoast region by the mid morning hours. However, a snow squall is possible in the mountains and foothills at any point today. Temperatures will drop through the day, reaching the single numbers in the north to the upper teens in the south by evening. Bitterly cold wind chill values are expected over northern areas tonight.
