A FLOOD ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6:30 PM EST THIS EVENING.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Maine, including
the following areas, in south central Maine, Kennebec, Lincoln and
Sagadahoc. In southwest Maine, Androscoggin, Cumberland and York.
* WHEN...Until 630 PM EST.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Overflowing poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 4:40 PM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5
inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding. Clogged storm drains will lead to large puddles in
some spots.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Portland, Lewiston, South Portland, Auburn, Biddeford,
Brunswick, Augusta, Westbrook, Bath, and Gardiner.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains.
