Okay, everyone knows that September  gets us into apple picking season. So ---

 

Jane's Red Applesauce

Serves:  4

 

3 Golden Delicious apples, cut into eighths

½ cup fresh cranberries

1 tbsp frozen orange juice concentrate

1 cinnamon stick

4 pecan halves

 

Place all ingredients, except pecans, in a 1-qt measure and cover with well-vented plastic wrap.  Microwave on High for 3 minutes.  Stir, and microwave on High another 2 to 3 minutes, until apples are soft.  Discard cinnamon stick, turn into a food mill, and grind over a bowl.  Chill until ready to serve, and top with a few pecans.
