#MEwx It's Good Friday, it's beginning to look a lot like Xmas and how to Marbleize Easter eggs

Good morning Augusta

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!”

A direct, real-time feed from my personal weather station is available for you

here.

This morning it’s all buried in snow out there. It’s cloudy with rain showers or snow likely, then scattered rain showers this afternoon. Total snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches. Highs will be in the lower

40s with northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Tonight it will be partly cloudy with  lows around 30°F. Winds will be West 10 to 15 mph gusting to 25 mph.

The readings from my weather instruments are:

Our outdoor temperature is 36.7°F, the humidity is 97%, the dew point is 36.0°F and our wind chill is 36.7°F.

The wind direction is Northeast between 0.0 MPH and 0.1 MPH.

The Relative pressure is 28.88, the Absolute pressure is 2.68 and falling indicating snow. Other than that, it’s flat lined.

Visibility is 10.0 Miles with low-hanging, fat rain/snow filled clouds.

The UV rating is 0 out of 16, The moon is 91.6% illuminated, the moon phase is waning gibbous, Sunrise is 6:03 am 78° East, Sunset is 7:18 pm 283° West, Moonrise is 10:46 pm 117° Southeast, Moonset is 7:48 am 247° West and we’ll have 13 hours 15 minutes of daylight today.

We received 9.2 inches of rain here with 10 inches of snow that hasn’t melted yet.

Let’s stick with Easter related things for the kids to do that are fun. How about:

How To Marbleize Easter Eggs

Makes 1 to 2 dozen eggs

This is a very kid-friendly variation on the “Dragon Egg” or Chinese Tea Egg” (both of those recipes will be in tomorrow’s post) process, only a whole lot easier for kids to do. It gives them something that is “permissible messy” to do and it has its own creativity built into it.

Ingredients

·         Hardboiled eggs

·         Cool Whip (2 containers)

·         Food coloring

Equipment

·         A shallow baking pan or cookie sheet

·         Spoon

·         Skewer or toothpick

·         Disposable gloves

·         Paper towels

·         Egg carton

Instructions

1.     Collect your supplies: You don’t need a ton of stuff, but if you have it all together at the start of the project, your crafternoon will go a lot smoother.

2.     Spoon out the Cool Whip: Spread the Cool Whip in an even layer into the baking pan or cookie sheet.

3.     Add the food coloring: Place drops of food coloring all around the top of the Cool Whip. Try to place them somewhat evenly.

4.     Create the marbling effect: Using a skewer or toothpick, gently swirl together the colors. Don’t overmix or the colors will all blend together.

5.     Add the eggs: Roll your eggs — one at a time — through the Cool Whip until they are completely covered. You may want to pull on a pair of disposable gloves to keep the food coloring from getting all over your skin.

6.     Let the eggs sit: Pull the egg out of the Cool Whip and place it in a disposable egg carton. Repeat with the rest of the eggs. Let them sit for at least half an hour. The longer they set, the more the food coloring dyes the eggs. When time’s up, gently pat the Cool Whip off the eggs and enjoy!
